The BoneXpert adult height predictor, based on the 2009 JCEM article, has been extended, so that it now plots the entire predicted growth path in a growth chart. It also predicts the age of peak height velocity. Click here to try it.
Did you ever wonder why adult height prediction and growth charts were not more tightly integrated? We wanted to fuse these two concepts by predicting the growth trajectory from the present height all the way to the predicted adult height, and draw this path in a growth chart. The way we to do this is to first predict the Age of Peak Height Velocity, and then look up the characteristic growth velocity curve that peaks there. The velocity curve is finally integrated to generate the height path. The method is described here.
At ESPE in in Barcelona October 1-3, Thodberg and Martin will present the scientific background for this extension in the poster session. Please visit the Visiana's stand for a demonstration and further discussion.
